‘Wasteland’ – Tarantella Fall

The latest video for Tarantella Fall. This is for the forthcoming single ‘Wasteland’ which is being released on February 10th. Shot on the streets, well, laneways, of Dublin. Tried to employ a variety of shot types, with a heavy influence taken from film noir, thanks to the well of cinematic knowledge that is Mr Dave Cullen! Very happy with how it turned out, and spent a lot of time doing pre-production and location scouting so that actually made a huge difference and meant we were much more prepared then we have been before!

‘Junk’ – Tarantella Fall – music video

Brand new video shot for Tarantella Fall. It’s our debut single ‘Junk’, and the concept is a rather strange card game! I wont say too much, but it links in with the theme of the album, so there are clues there, littered amongst it…

Great fun to do, but lots of pressure. We only had a week to turn it around so massive thanks to Dave Cullen for his help and expertise. All shot on the Canon Eos 5dMK2 in glorious HD. Beautiful quality and bowled over by how good it looks. We have only scratched the surface on what the camera can do to be honest, so I look forward to delving further into what it can do. All edited by myself in Final Cut Pro, and again first time using HD footage, but thankfully the old (rather new actually) Mac Pro just spat it out. I don’t think my Mini Mac would have been up to the job…

Regarding the song, ‘Junk’ will be available as a free download from July 23rd, with a launch gig that night in Whelan’s, Dublin.

And I see Moody’s have downgraded Irish credit debt rating to Junk status. So that makes our debut single the perfect song for a background to a news report!

Dave Browne Beats Guinness World Record For Continuous Guitar Playing

Congratulations to Dave Browne who broke the Guinness World Record for playing the guitar continuously for over 114 hours at The Temple Bar Pub in Dublin this week. It was a great occasion and Tarantella Fall were delighted to have played their part by guesting with Dave early on (well 28 hours in!) during his mammoth challenge.

Get the full story from Hot Press here.

Here’s a pic of Dave I took as he received his award from the adjudicators.

Chris and Ronan from Tarantella Fall onstage with a slightly fresher looking Dave Browne!

Abandoned Road Album Shoot

It absolutely hammered down. We were on location in Wicklow, Ron had an area in mind, and the day we chose was shall we say monsoon like. Initially the thought was to have an image of an abandoned road, but we discussed it and felt having someone in it in would add more to the album seeing as it is about a character. The dreaded concept album, but let’s not go there yet!

Nearly broke the camera it fogged up so much. But without the lashings of rain would never have got this.We lit it using car headlights, I stuck the ISO to 3200 and using a tripod opened the shutter to 1/15 at 2.8, hence we got the amazing streaks of rain. And as soon as we retreated into the car and the camera started working again(!) we knew straight away it was the one we would use. And it was.

So to call it just an eventful shoot would be an understatement…
