I feel a bit like a photographic version of Reeling In The Years now! So welcome to 2007. The first time I shot Canon, so my gear was a newly acquired Canon D30 and the 80-200 2.8 lens that I acquired from Mr Dave Cullen. It had done its time and owed no one anything, but I have been keeping it out of the scrapyard. I still use it and is without doubt the sharpest lens I have. They dont call it the ‘Magic Drainpipe’ for nowt. Actually got a bash in the pit melee during Iggy Pop, it refused to zoom afterwards. Was an expensive repair (and incidently the last time they could, as they no longer have the parts). Hence it is now held together with gaff tape, bits of plastic forks and other DIY elements… As they say you can always spot a pro snapper by the amount of knocks, tape and general crap on their gear. So true!
